Calculators. In this guide: choosing a calculator, growing a TFSA, the growth rate between two values, and dividend income.
Calculators, under My Desk, holds quick tools for everyday investing math. Choose one along the top. Its inputs appear below it, and the answer appears in Results, on the right.
The math runs in your browser, on the numbers you enter, and nothing is saved. Change any number and calculate again to compare.
The TFSA calculator projects a monthly contribution at a yearly return you assume. Enter the amount, the return and the number of years, then calculate.
Results shows the total you put in, the growth, and the future value. Growth inside a TFSA is not taxed in Canada, so the tax owed on it shows zero. This is a projection at a steady return, not a forecast.
CAGR, the compound annual growth rate, turns a starting value, an ending value and a number of whole years into one yearly rate.
Results shows that yearly rate, the total return over the whole period, and the period itself.
The dividend calculator takes a share price, the yearly dividend per share, and how many shares you have.
It returns the dividend yield, the income per year and per month, and what those shares cost at that price. The yield is the yearly dividend divided by the share price.
